If you want a nutrient-dense breakfast or snack, look no further than our healthy green matcha and coconut chia pudding.
Every ingredient counts in this recipe, providing a whole range of nutrients in one healthy hit.
It’s simple to put together from your online groceries delivery and looks stunning too. In fact, it’s so good that you could even serve it as dessert at a dinner party.
Let’s take a look at the key ingredients and find out their health benefits.
The power of chia
Chia seeds are truly one of nature’s superfoods. For something so tiny, they contain a surprising amount of nutrients.
They are high in antioxidants, which block free radicals that can lead to disease and contribute to the ageing process.
Chia seeds also contain good amounts of protein, which is essential for cell growth. A diet high in protein is great for weight loss too, as it can suppress your appetite.
They’re high in fibre to help digestion and contain a variety of minerals including calcium, which helps keep bones healthy.
Chia seeds also contain good amounts of vitamins B1, B2 and B3, which all help the body’s cells to work properly.
Matcha green tea for health
Matcha green tea is another health superstar. It’s high in antioxidants that help keep you healthy and is believed to boost brain function by helping to improve reaction time, concentration and memory.
And it may even help fight cancer. Preliminary studies in animals have found that green tea extract decreased tumour size and slowed the growth of cancer cells.
Let’s hear it for coconut
Our recipe calls for both coconut milk and coconut yogurt…we just can’t get enough of this health-boosting ingredient!
Coconut is packed full of minerals such as manganese, which helps keep bones healthy, copper and iron, which aid the production of red blood cells, and selenium, an antioxidant.
It also provides plenty of protein and fibre to keep your body functioning healthily.
Not forgetting the finishing touches…
The berries and fruit for the topping will offer you an array of essential vitamins, notably vitamin C to help ward off infections.
And you’ll benefit from the fibre in the granola, which will help you feel fuller for longer.
Perhaps one of the best things about this recipe is that it’s so easy to put together and can be eaten at any time of the day.
